Leysin is located on a terrace at an altitude of 1,200m above Aigle in the lower Rhône Valley. In addition to fantastic views of the Rhône Plain, Mont Blanc, Dents du Midi and Les Diablerets offer an attractive family holiday world.
Leysin, at the foot of the Tour d'Aï, has a sun-rich and mild climate and has
been a famous health resort for people since the fifties. Club Med opened a
holiday club here in 1950 and since then it has developed into an all-year
holiday resort.

Leysin in the Vaud Alps is at the same altitude as Villars and is accessed from Aigle by a cog –railway which takes around 35 minutes. The resort offers very easy access to possibilities in the lower Valais and Lake Geneva area. Aigle has a great history and hosts its medieval castle and Wine and Vine Museum. The village of Leysin is host to a few of Switzerland’s hotel schools and therefore the resort, although fairly small, offers a very professional feel and you will struggle to find bad service. Having said that, it’s still a very relaxed place with a great atmosphere.
Leysin ski resort has evolved along a sloping, sunny balcony in the French speaking Alpes Vaudoises region. The village also holds its own history which dates back at least 1,500 years. It was originally a large agricultural area, but during the health resort boom of the first half of the century the village grew and is now famed for its healthy climate and attracts those in search of high altitude cures. The history gives the village a nice local feel, and while still offering access to the huge ski area of Villars, it takes you away from the hustle and bustle of a large resort and places you in a charming and very quiet village.

With well over 20 restaurants there are plenty of options for food in this small resort. They do everything from the Swiss Classics up to most other European options. There are plenty of little cafes for the quick bites, and these are lined up along the main street with small tables outside. The resort is not renowned for being a heavy party town, however there are around 10 lively bars for the younger generation. If this isn't your taste, there are also quiet bars to relax in with a nice glass of wine.
The beautiful local ski area has around 20 lifts and a snow park with massive half pipe. Ski tours and snow-shoe treks offer skiers and snowboarder’s ideal opportunities for enjoyment. And there is also a lit cross-country skiing trail and toboggan run. Additional challenges for skiers and snowboarders are available in the Glacier 3000 ski area at the Col du Pillon and Les Diablerets. In the small holiday resort of Les Mosses/La Lécherette a family-friendly ski region and lots of space for cross-country skiers awaits.
Three ski regions with a total of 225km of pistes and a snow park extend up to an altitude of 3,000m. The cross-country network of tracks consists of 30km of classical Nordic track and 15km of skating trails. Further attractions include 7.2km of long toboggan runs, snow-shoe walks, snow biking and ice fall climbing. Last but not least, the glacier restaurant constructed by leading Swiss architect Mario Botta in the Glacier 3000 ski region offers a unique panorama of the Lake Geneva region.
You can upgrade to the new Super Pass. This includes all of the areas above and also extends to the Gstaad Mountain. A total of 420km!
